Modified Bitumen roofing is asphalt that has had modifiers added to it to give it plastic or rubber-like properties. It is mainly used in flat and nearly flat roofs.
Rolls of modified bitumen membrane come in widths of 36″ to approximately 39″ (1 m) and can be installed with one or multiple layers, depending on the roof’s substrate. When installed in single layers, a modified roof system has a 12-16 year life span. Multiple layers prolong the life of the system.
Modified Bitumen systems are good heat reflectors and fire retardant.
